    Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar has all applause for her contribution to Indian cinema and now the industry has also stood up to clap for her inputs. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari awarded Lataji with first Yash Chopra Memorial Award, on the first death anniversary of filmmaker Yash Chopra in his memory. Manish announced, "Lata Mangeshkar, blessed with a beautiful voice, is the pride of the Indian music industry and a living legend."

    Lata Mangeshkar, in spite of having bad health, made to the occasion, “I am unwell since three days... I have fever and doctors have asked me to take rest and not go out anywhere. But I wanted to come here... I have not come here for the award and Rs 10 lakh. Yashji was special and close to my heart.” Many renowned faces of the industry like Sridevi, Boney Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Hema Malini and many more marked their presence at the event. The nightingale of India began her career in early 1940’s and is spreading her melody till date. She is reportedly to croon a song in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's forthcoming Ram-Leela.
