Lipstick Under My Burkha song: Le Li Jaan is the rebel anthem you must watch
The makers of controversial film Lipstick Under my Burkha released a new song, Le Li Jaan, on Tuesday.
The song, composed and sung by Zebunnisa Bangash (part of the Zeb Haniya duo), is based on a popular Afghani folk song. It’s lyrics are penned by by Anvita Dutt.
Le Li Jaan shows the four lead characters rebelling against set societal norms. Keeping with the theme of the film, it the peppy music makes it an energetic number.
Lipstick Under My Burkha chronicles the secret lives of four feisty women who are chasing their secret fantasies.
Directed by Alankrita Shrivastava, the movie was denied a certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which termed it “lady-oriented”, fantasy above life” “sexual scenes” “audio pornography” and “abusive words.”
The makers moved the Film Certification Tribunal (FCAT), which cleared the film for release with certain cuts and an ‘A’ certificate. After long struggles, the film is set to release on July 21.
