A lot of buzz has been going around ever since Abhishek Verman has announced his next project Shiddat. The period drama, earlier titled Kalank, is a love triangle and will star Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor. According to the sources, the latest addition to the cast is Madhuri Dixit-Nene.

According to media reports, the makers of the movie, Dharma Productions, have managed to convince Madhuri to play the role of Alia’s mother in the film. Yes, for the first time in Indian film history, the Dhak Dhak girl will don the character of a mother, that too of such a young girl. To recall your memories, Madhuri was offered to play the role of the mother of Sonam Kapoor in the Indian version of Freaky Friday, which was cancelled later on, but the gorgeous actress turned down the offer anyway.

The actress has earlier worked with Karan Johar in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, in which she appeared in an item number with Ranbir Kapoor. Madhuri was last seen in Gulaab Gang, post which she was seen as a celeb judge on a couple of reality shows. According to a report in Asian Age, "The casting took a while, but it has been sealed and the film's team has already begun work on its pre-production”.
