Manoj Bajpai: No Other Actor Would Have Risked To Do Aligarh

Manoj Bajpai who will be seen playing the role of a gay professor in his upcoming flick Aligarh says that the role is so challenging that no other actor except him would have taken the risk to do it. While in an interview with Indian Express, the Gangs of Wasseypur actor said, “After reaching a safe position in his career, no other actor would have touched taken the risk to do Siras. I will take the credit for it and I say this with confidence”.

Bajpai further said that there wasn’t any apprehension about signing Hansal Mehta directorial. “As an actor I love a challenge. And when Hansal came to me with Aligarh I was mentally prepared for the role. I was looking forward to do something which other actors will fear to do. But for it you need a subject like that. And Hansal offered me exactly what I wanted. Yes it is a fact that our industry portrays homosexuals in a very stereotypical way and it is painful. But I trust Hansal and his kind of filmmaking”, he said.

The trailer of the film is getting a great response from the audiences. “We only want our movie to reach a wider audience and educate the people about the subject, its sensitivity and its uniqueness. I don’t expect more than this. What will be its fate at the box office and how many people will watch it, that only time will tell”, he said.
