At that time Kashyap hardly would have thought that one day his creations would impress his idol so much that he would personally applaud him for his achievements.

    A dream has come true for Anurag Kashyap, who createdGangs of Wasseypurbeing influenced by Scorsese'sGoodfellasto a large extent. The same film was chosen for the prestigious Director's Fortnight at the 65th Cannes Film Festival, which once used to screen the world-famous director Scorsese's films. Kashyap had sent some of his films to the idol of his life and he got a letter from Scorsese himself. The director wrote in the letter, "I thoroughly enjoyed Dev D and Gangs of Wasseypur and found themexcitingand inspiring." To add more, the director has also shown willingness to meet Kashyap personally.

    Anurag confirmed the news while talking to a leading daily, "I actually got the letter in December, but I had kept quiet about it. I don't know why I felt like posting it today. It was a great feeling to receive a letter from Scorsese. I was invited to be on the sets of his film, but I couldn't go. I just want to watch him work some day. He has been a great inspiration and I really think this letter is the biggest award I have ever got."
