Mary Kom fails the Monday test as collections fall down

For every sustaining film at the box office, it has to make sure to hold well on weekdays. Looking at the reports coming in, it’s only fair to say that Mary Kom has failed the Monday test. The film experienced a dramatic fall in the figures which may not indicate a very promising week ahead for the movie.

After having collected more than 10 crores on Sunday, the film could only rake in some 3.60 crores on Monday thus going through a fall with a high margin. The film’s total collections now stand at around 30.4 crores. While the numbers are still pretty engaging for the makers, it would worry the distributors with the film not being able to hold up well on weekdays. If the collections further go down, Mary Kom would not be able to sail through the 50 crore mark quiet comfortably. With Finding Fanny, Khoobsoorat, Daawat-e-Ishq lined up for release in the next two weeks, it is important for Mary Kom to perform well in its first week itself.

The word of mouth of the film has been extremely mixed which is translating into the collections now. Meanwhile Priyanka Chopra continuous to earn heavy praises for her performance of the ‘five time world champion and Olympic medallist’ boxer Mary Kom. Another factor quite disturbing for the trade world is that North East hasn’t contributed well to its collections. While the film couldn’t release in Manipur, the other states didn’t perform any good either. Let’s see if the film performs any better in the days ahead.
