Friendship Day: I Found My Alter Ego In Monica Dogra: Nia Sharma

Nia Sharma has just returned from Spain but she wishes she could go back. The actor along with over a dozen others had gone to the European country to participate in an adventure reality show and upon returning, she claims it was the “trip of a lifetime”.

She says, “It was quite exciting. Not just the adventure bit and performing stunts but also living in the country for over a month. Spaniards are fun loving people and they love to dance to Punjabi songs for some reason. They didn’t understand the language but enjoyed the beats. Also, when you say Spain, you think of Barcelona and Madrid but we were put up in a town call Malaga. Whenever we got a break from shooting, we would all relax and play songs in our cars and dance on the streets. It was super fun. If you dance alone on the streets, people might call you crazy but when so many people dance together, it’s a party.”

The Jamai Raja actor put up multiple Instagram stories which showcased the camaraderie between the contestants and their rapport. “None of it was staged. When you go for a vacation, you hit the usual spots but staying in a country for over a month is a different experience altogether. I was glad that the whole group was fun. In fact, I found my alter ego in Monica Dogra. We had the same playlists and we bonded on that. We spent a lot of time together and made Instagram stories on Nicki Minaj songs. We are both bada**** (laughs).”

Apart from fun and games, doing the stunts did take a toll on Nia. “At the end of the journey, we all felt a bit tired. I had been hurt, my body is in pain and my bones hurt too (laughs). I felt like I was in a war zone. Now I am recovering from the bruises I have got,” she signs off.
