    Mumbai Film Festival to begin on October 18


    The much-awaited Mumbai Film Fest 2012 is all set to kickstart from October 18 with the screening of the famous Hollywood film,Silver Linings Playbook. About 230 acclaimed films will be shown during the film fest which will continue from October 18 to 25. It will have special segments dedicated to French, Italian, Afghan and Indian cinema as well as silent films accompanied by a live orchestra. The opening film has Hollywood A-listers like Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert de Niro and also veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher which won the BlackBerry People's Choice Award at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival.

    The Mumbai Film Fest is being organised by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image, a film body that comprises directors Yash Chopra, Karan Johar, Sudhir Mishra, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Anurag Kashyap, Shabana Azmi, Farhan Akhtar and noted filmmaker Shyam Benegal, who heads it too. Some of the noted films to be shown at the event areAmour(Palme d'Or winner at Cannes 2012 and Austria's official entry to the Oscars); French-Belgian filmRust and Bone, Beyond The Hills(a masterpiece by Romanian director Cristian Mungiu etc.
