Munna Michael actor Nidhhi Agerwal: I was told that I’d just be a one-film wonder

Nidhhi Agerwal had a dream debut in Bollywood when she got to star opposite Tiger Shroff in the recently released film Munna Michael. However, she wasn’t spared from unwanted criticism, and like many other newcomers in the industry, she also received “free advice” from all corners.

“The funniest thing happened, when this person that I know, right after I signed Munna Michael, said, ‘haan, bahut saari ladiyan ek film kar leti hain (a lot of girls turn out to be one film wonders). But I was like it is okay,” recalls Nidhhi, adding that she had started receiving such comments when she was a model.

Not disheartened by the debacle of the film at the box office, Nidhhi says, “Even before I got the film, I was told ‘bahut ladkiyan hai Mumbai mein (There are a lot of women struggling in Mumbai). During my modelling days, I would hear there’s no dearth of female models aspiring to be actors. So, people would always have that negative connotation in their comments,” adds Nidhhi, who hails from Bangalore.

The 23-year-old actor says with pride that all this while she remained immune to mean comments that came her way. “I think even if you do five films, some people would be like ‘yeah, no big deal’. So, I don’t care. I genuinely am a very extreme person. So I’m prepared for all this,” says Nidhhi, adding that she just focusses on her work. “At the end, if you are good in your film and you have more films coming your way and good characters to play, nothing else counts. All these people and their comments are just frills and for fun and you should not take it seriously,” asserts the actor.
