Nawazuddin Siddiqui: It Took Me One-And-A-Half Month to Come Out Of Manjhi’s Character
After Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui will next beseen in a biopic based on Dashrath Manjhi, whose trailer released recently. According to the Black Friday actor, this role was very close to his heart. He told DNA, “It took me one-and-a-half month to come out of the character after wrapping up the shoot”. The Kahaani actor added, “I went out alone to several places… this is the impact this character has had on me”.
The film’s story is based on the life of Dashrath Manjhi who carved a path through a mountain using just a hammer and a chisel so that the villagers have easy access to the nearest hospital. Explaining his character in the film, the Gangs of Wasseypur star said, “It’s an extraordinary story of an ordinary man. It was difficult getting into the mindset of a man who was breaking a mountain for 22 years in memory of his wife. For me, this is the greatest love story. Shah Jahan who had all the money and resources at his disposal took 22 years to build Taj Mahal for his wife Mumtaz and this man who had nothing was digging a mountain on his own. Whose love story is deeper and stronger?”.
Out of all the characters the Badlapur actor has played so far, his most favourite is the one that he played in Bombay Talkies. Nawazuddin said, “I played a guy who fails in everything. My initial 10-12 years in the industry were the same”.
