New releases fail to make their presence felt at the Box Office, Bang Bang to dominate

The Friday that came along with as many as four new releases has been welcomed with an utter cold response at the box office. As per the early trends, all new releases have opened to an extremely poor response with neither figures nor reviews going in their favour. The films that released today were Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami, Spark, Tamanchey and Jigariyaa.

The only prospect that looked appealing to a certain extent to the audiences was Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami starring Divyendu Sharma with Anupam Kher playing his father. Tamanchey that stars Nikhil Dwivedi and Richa Chaddha has also met disastrous reviews only to end its journey soon. The other two releases have been of the same critical reception if not worse. Spark starring Rajneesh Duggal in the lead hasn’t even been able to find screens at most places. With the kind of high that box office witnessed last week with a 5 day long weekend, this week is perhaps just flowing slow to accommodate the already moving waves.

Hrithik-Katrina’s Bang Bang is all set to sail through disarmingly in its second week as well. The film ended its first week at a total of 135 crores and is looking pretty solid, since no new release seems to be living up to challenge this biggie. Even Shahid Kapoor’s Haider will stand better chances at the box office than this week’s new releases. The film has so far touched 40 crores and will safely look to put itself at 50 crores by the end of this week. May be this is just another silence before the storm that will arrive on Diwali.
