Nidhhi Agerwal Hits Back At Her Trolls

Nidhhi Agerwal knows well that fame has its pros and cons. That’s the reason why the actor, who made her Bollywood debut with the film, Munna Michael , in July 2017, is prepared to embrace it all. Talking about how trolls are almost inescapable in this age of social media, Nidhhi shares what she thinks of the haters. “These trolls are nothing but an angry bunch of people. If you go to those [social media] accounts, they have maybe five odd followers and they would be following some fifty thousand people, so it’s a sad state of affairs for them,” says the actor.

Nidhhi, too, has been a target. This one time when the 24-year-old shared a photo of herself lying down in a yellow tank top, on Instagram, the post was flooded with lewd comments about her cleavage. The picture was a still from Munna Michael, she wrote later. But such things don’t bother the young actor. She tells us that she once researched about why trolls behave like they do. “I went online and typed why people are so angry, and interesting things came up in the search results. I found out that the reason they hide behind their display pictures and type all sort of sh*t is because maybe they were ignored as a child by their parents, so trolling people is quite a psychological disorder. Basically, they need [medical] help.”

Celebs are soft targets of online hate. “That’s because they are famous and people take notice,” says Nidhhi, adding that trolls vent out their pent up anger on just about anyone, including public figures.

Not just trolls, Nidhhi has also learned how to deal with rumours early on in her career. After her film, she was linked with co-star Tiger Shroff . “I’ve been dealing with link-up rumours even since I was in school. It’s just that now such rumours get published in newspapers and people talk about it,” she says.
