No Kahaani 2 in Kundan Shah’s directorial pipeline

It has been quite disgusting and awkward situation for Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron director Kundan Shah when he became aware of the ongoing rumours that he is the man who would direct the sequel to Kahaani, which means he is intruding into the province of Sujoy Ghosh.

Kundan spared not a single moment in explaining his point clearly, “Why would I want to make it? That’s Sujoy Ghosh’s domain. He did a brilliant job in Kahaani. No other director can do justice to the brand.” He went on explaining how he got involved in the controversy, “I went to the producer Jayanti Gada with a woman-oriented subject. It was his idea to name itKahaani 2as he says the rights and title are with him. I am not comfortable with this at all. Why should I claim any creative right over the franchise? It’s Sujoy’s baby. I’d like the producers to patch up with Sujoy and makeKahaani 2,Kahaani 3, etc with Sujoy. I’d like to be left out of this.”

He has also revealed his plans about his next film, a political satire which is called Masquerade, “There is a dead body in this one. I know Satish Shah’s corpse act inJaane Bhi Do Yaaronis still remembered. But what can I do if a dead body popped up in this one too?” Masquerade was said to have Mallika Sherawat in the lead but because of her present unavailability, the film will have a new girl. Sujoy Ghosh also shared his reactions to the reports, “No one can makeKahaani 2without my consent. I will direct a sequel. It’s mine. Why should I react to some baseless report claiming someone else is makingKahaani 2? The only thing that bothers me is that my mother in Kolkata reads such stuff and gets upset. She will get used to it.”
