“Not applying lipstick was weird” - Sunil Grover aka Gutthi on playing a ‘man’ in Gabbar is Back

Don’t get on the edge of your seats expecting Sunil Grover to play Gutthi and turn at his hilarious best when he comes on screen in the upcoming film Gabbar is Back. The actor who makes a long awaited appearance on big screen with the Akshay Kumar starrer, is pretty excited to be playing a ‘man’ after a long time. In an interview to HT, Sunil revealed how weird he felt playing a character so different to what he is known for.

On being asked how tough was it for him to adapt for big screen, Sunil said “Playing a man was refreshing after essaying the role of a woman so many times [on TV]. Actually, I felt weird because lipstick is generally the last thing I apply for the TV show, which I didn’t do for the film. I felt something was missing (laughs). The grammar of filmmaking is totally different. On my show, I can say any damn thing, but for this role, I had to stick to the script. I have done films earlier, but switching from one medium to another is still tough.”

Sunil revealed that while he is being getting offers to play the leading man in films, an exciting offer has yet not knocked at his door. “I aspire to play complex characters and experiment with my roles. With the I have been offered lead roles (in movies), but I haven’t taken them up as
they didn’t excite me,” he added. Let’s wish him good luck for his big screen stint.
