Om Puri speaks in support of naxals

Pachmarhi -- It seems that veteran Bollywood actor Om Puri loves to court controversies. Not long ago he had to apologize for his outrageous comments against parliamentarians and now he has sparked another row by saying that naxals are fighters not terrorists. The actor who is currently shooting in the city for Prakash Jha's Chakravyuh, said naxalites do not create troubles for common people. "They (naxals) are not terrorists because they don't resort to irresponsible acts of terror by planting bombs on streets. Naxals are fighters who fight for their rights. They don't harass the common man and the poor," Puri said. He also justified the kidnapping of Sukma district collector Alex Paul Menon, saying that Alex was kidnapped because he supported the social system against which naxals are fighting.
