Omi Vaidya pours his heart out

Omi Vaidya pours his heart out

Actor Omi Vaidya who shot to fame as Chatur Ramalingam with 3 Idiots spoke his mind and shared his thoughts. Barely five films old in the B-Town, Omi has already worked with Bollywood biggies like Madhur Bhandarkar, Abbas Mustan, etc. A NYU graduate actually, Vaidya has been into acting since he was six years old. He wants to be a stand-up comedians like Mehmood and Johnny Lever someday which requires a lot of writing and timing. According to him, Indians cannot speak their mind whenever they want to. But being an NRI, his friends warn him at times regarding this thought. In India, you cannot joke about politics, religion, Bollywood, the stars - these things. Other people can, mind you. No name people can. But if I say something, then I'll get into a lot of trouble. I feel that's sad. We have an opportunity to not take ourselves so seriously, and also, a lot of criticism comes through humour as well, and satire, and we are missing those opportunities, said Omi. He laughs at himself to understand the importance of humour in ones life. I have to laugh at myself because otherwise, it would be very difficult to live. People are always making fun of me or using me as a joke in films, and if I take myself so seriously, then I'll be a very sad person. But I can't - I have been given this opportunity to make people laugh. They just look at me - I don't have to say a word, huh - and they laugh, added Vaidya.
