Padmaavat Surprasses Bajirao Mastani; Emerges Shahid And Ranveer's Biggest Hit Till Date!

While Karni Sena is in the middle of an identity crisis over Padmaavat, for the film’s cast and crew it is time to celebrate. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali magnum opus is expected to cross Rs 200-mark with Sunday’s collections. The film, which released after much difficulty on January 25 has completed over two weeks at the box office and already surpassed the lifetime collections of Bajirao Mastani . The film stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati, Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji and Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh.

Padmaavat now stands as the highest grossing film of Ranveer, Shahid and Bhansali's careers. If it manages to cross the lifetime biz of Chennai Express, it will certainly be noted as Deepika's highest grossing film till date as well.

The film’s earnings has also given a major fillip to the trade after the sluggish 2017. Adarsh wrote earlier, “#Padmaavat begins Week 2 with a BANG... Collects in double digits... The Mumbai faction of Karni Sena on Friday announced that it is ending its protest of Padmaavat. The fringe organisation’s chief Lokendra Singh Kalvi on Saturday declared that his outfit is the 'real Karni Sena' and that its protests against the film would continue.

Earlier, talking about the massive protests by fringe organizations against his film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali said, “If you love something more than yourself in life, then it doesn’t matter. I don’t know anything else. I don’t know how to use a computer, how to drive, or even to change the batteries. I only know how to make a film. That is one thing I live and die for. I don’t want money or fame. It all felt like someone was attacking my child and I was just nurturing my film. Come what may, I was going to give my everything for this film and not let anyone effect what I wanted to do.’’
