Police Arrest Two Men In Connection With TV Actor Kritika Chaudhary's Murder

Kritika Chaudhary, a small time actor, was killed over Rs. 6,000 that she owed a drug peddler. She was found murdered at her Andheri (West) flat, which she had rented in an SRA building near the Andheri regional transport office at Four Bungalows, on June 12. According to recent reports, the Mumbai police have arrested two men - Shakeel Naseem Khan and Badshah Basudas Makmalal - said to be associated with the murder.

The two accused were even captured on the building’s CCTV footage. In an exclusive report in The Quint, a Mumbai Police was quoted as saying, “Chaudhary had purchased drugs from Shakeel Naseem Khan a year ago and did not pay him. On the night she was murdered, the two (Shakeel and Badshaha Basudas Makmalal) had visited Choudhary’s apartment to collect the money she owed them. However, the argument escalated and in a fit of rage, the accused hit Kritika with a knuckle duster and left her bleeding. They put the apartment’s air conditioner so that it would suppress the smell and delay the discovery of her corpse”.

Kritika’s brother Deepak Chaudhary confirmed to the portal about the arrest but was shocked to hear about the motive of Rs. 6,000. He said, “I don’t think that Rs 6,000 is a provocation big enough to lead to murder. No one in our family believes it. And Kritika had Rs 22,000 in cash in her purse when she was murdered. The police handed that cash to us only a few days ago. Had it been about the money, she could have instantly given it to them. Why wouldn’t she? And would they murder her over such a small amount?”.

The two accused men were produced in the court on July 10 and have now been remanded to police custody for a week. As per sources, Kritika was married but had left her husband after doubting him of having an affair. The couple was in the process of finalising their divorce.
