Lafangey Parindey director Pradeep Sarkar will be developing a big screen adaptation of the play ‘Shimla Coffee House’. Reportedly, the director is keen on casting Saif Ali Khan for the lead role. Pradeep’s first Bollywood directorial ‘Parineeta’ also starred the Phantom actor.

According to Deccan Chronicle, a source spoke about the project and said, “Shimla Coffee House is a story of a small coffee joint somewhere on the foothills of Shimla, managed by a waiter called Satish Kashyap. A writer often visits the joint to write his popular series of short stories. During one such visit, he meets an ardent fan who picks out problematic elements in the story. The disagreement escalates into a fight, dragging in the waiter. It’s a psycho-comic drama and depicts the influence of literature on society and vice versa”.

Pradeep’s last film was ‘Mardaani’ which starred Rani Mukerji and Tahir Bhasin. On the other hand, Saif will next be seen in ‘Rangoon’ where he shares screen space with Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut. The Vishal Bhardwaj directorial will be released on September 30.
