Prakash Jha on Satyagraha: The film is not based on Anna Hazare

It has been heard since quite a long time now that Prakash Jha’s upcoming film Satyagraha highlights social activist Anna Hazare and his movement. But the filmmaker has something different to say about his film that Satyagraha has nothing to do with the public figure, Anna Hazare.

He stated further that Amitabh Bachchan’s character has no connection with Hazare. While launching Satyagraha’s trailer globally on Wednesday, Jha announced, "I have not commented on this before. The film is not based on Anna Hazare and has nothing to do with the movement. The entire process of satyagraha comes from Gandhiji. Mr. Bachchan plays the role of a satyagrahi who believes in truth.” He also shared his joy of working with Big B saying, “It is very fortunate for us that someone from our generation gets to work with Mr. Bachchan.”

The film also stars Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal. Ajay Devgan, Manoj Bajpai and Amrita Rao. While Kareena and Ajay were releasing the film’s trailer in London and were available via a video chat, the rest of the crew along with Sidharth Roy Kapur was launching the trailer in the Maharashtrian capital, simultaneously. Ajay said about the unique concept of launching the trailer globally, "It was a great idea. I was here and so was Kareena. The idea came when we were dubbing for the promo. We liked it so much that we felt that we should launch it in a big way.”
