    Rajat Kapoor miffed?

Ankhon Dekhi maker Rajat Kapoor is pretty much annoyed these days. His film has received excellent critic reviews and wide publicity through word-of-mouth from the audience. He has been flooded with calls and messages on social networking platforms from enraged movie-lovers who have complained that though they want to watch his film eagerly they couldn’t, as it’s not running at most of the theatres.

PVR distributed Ankhon Dekhi. Rajat objected, "In its second week, Ankhon Dekhi, doesn't have a single show in Bangalore, is playing in just one theatre in Kolkata, is running in three shows in Delhi and 10 in Mumbai but none of them are on prime time slots. A film like this is patronised by the family audience and needs evening shows rather than morning and afternoon slots.” He also said that last Friday’s releases, O Teri, Dishkiyaaon and Youngistaan, have shared 3,500 screens among them.
As per Rajat, "Our film industry works on the presumption that unless your film has a star it is not considered box-office material. I can't fathom the logic. It works against filmmakers like us who first have to struggle to find a producer like Manish Mundra, who has conviction in the subject, then a distributor who is ready to release the film and finally exhibitors who will give it a decent run.” He added further, "I make films that I believe in." Rajat’s film faced toughest competition from Ragini MMS 2 which has done a handsome business at the box-office. The filmmaker added, "But the two films were poles apart and targeted a completely different audience.” He pointed out more, “The film's satellite rights have yet to be sold. Can they bring in some money? "Inshallah!" Distributor PVR remained unavailable for comment.
