    Rajkummar Rao’s 'Newton' To Compete At Tribeca Film Festival

    After getting premiered at 67th Berlin International Film Festival where it received the Art Cinema award in the Forum segment, actor Rajkummar Rao’s 'Newton' has been selected in the world competition section of the 16th Annual Tribeca Film Festival. The fest will held in New York from April 19 to April 30. The movie which also stars Anjali Patil has been directed by Amit Masurkar.

    About the achievement, Rao tweeted, “Extremely happy to share that 'Newton' is in the world competition section of Tribeca. Can't wait to be there. Congrats team.” Tribeca's official website announces that 98 movies will be screened at the fest this year across different categories.

    The movie is a political satire where the CityLight actor plays a titular role. It revolves around an election day in Central India. The actor plays a clerk who is posted on election duty in a conflict-ridden area of Chhattisgarh. Manish Mundra of Drishyam Films, a company well-known for producing critically-acclaimed projects such as 'Masaan', 'Ankhon Dekhi' and 'Umrika', has produced the movie.
