How Rani Mukerji Met Aditya Chopra? How Many People Attended Their Wedding? The Actress Reveals It All!

Rani Mukerji returns to the silver screen after a long hiatus with Hichki. But as she appeared on Neha Dhupia ’s chat show, BFFs with Vogue, with designer friend Sabyasachi Mukherjee, hiccups were the last thing on her mind. She spoke about her film, daughter Adira and notoriously media-shy husband, filmmaker Aditya Chopra. Here are some interesting moments from the show…

How Rani Mukerji met Aditya Chopra

The actor said, ‘’After having faced failure for a couple of my films, luckily Mujhse Dosti Karoge happened and that’s when I met Adi first time professionally. He told me that I’m doing a couple of crap films and that people have pressured him not to take me because they think you don’t have the equity for a Yash Raj film but Adi had belief in my talent and me and thought that I was good for the part. My mother and I have been very upfront people always and I like frankness and openness so I like the fact that he was on my face.”

    Why Aditya hated Rani’s stardom

The filmmaker hates paparazzi so much that despite being one of the most powerful men in the industry, there are hardly any photos of his in media. “It’s not as if he is paranoid about the cameras. He just doesn’t want to be photographed. He had told me after our marriage, ‘God when I fell in love with you, I didn’t stop to think that I was in love with an actress. Now, because of you, people are attaching my pictures to yours as well.”

Rani finds Aditya the best director

Rani believes her husband is the “best director”. When Neha asked Rani if she curses and abuses, she replied saying, ‘’Yes, I do. I curse my husband every day; I abuse my husband every day but he does such loving things that the cursing comes out with love! So, in my family when we curse, we curse with love. We don’t curse with hate. If I curse somebody, that means I really love that person.”

    On daughter Adira

“I want Adira to grow up normally. [Otherwise] you get unwanted and undeserved attention without having achieved anything in life. I want Adira to be treated like any other child in school. Aditya and I don’t want her to be photographed constantly,” she said. When the host asked Rani that one quality of her husband she wouldn’t want Adira to possess, she said, “His immense passion for food!”

    12 people attended Rani-Aditya wedding

When Sabyasachi was asked “How long ago did he know about the wedding ( Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma )?”, the designer said he knew about it long enough to make the clothes and added jokingly that he takes three hours to make bridal outfits.

He also said people in his organisation used code names while working on the wedding, to which Rani added: “I think he did a trial with my wedding, so it went smoothly.”

“There was a lot of pressure on Virat and Anushka like there was pressure on Rani and Aditya when they were getting married. I think a good designer is like a good doctor, and a good jeweller should also be like a good doctor. They don’t talk about their patients,” he added.

When Rani was asked how many people attended her wedding, she said: “12”.
