Raveena Tandon Not Interested In Politics, Hits Back At Twitter Trolls

Yesterday, Raveena Tandon posted a pic of herself in a saree on Twitter and captioned it, “A sareee day... will I be termed communal, sanghi, bhakt, hindutva icon? If I say I love wearing the saree and I think it's the most elegant”. The actress was trolled by people asking if she wanted to get back to acting or if she was aiming for a political position. Raveena then gave a befitting reply, clearing the air and informing people she is not interested in politics.

“All those thinking I want to get into politics. I am not interested. Was offered by TMC. Congress, and BJP. Said No”, was Raveena’s reply to the people who raised such questions. She went on to explain and justify her saree tweet saying, “The reason that I put a disclaimer for saying I love the saree! Nowadays can be trolled for anything and can be twisted to suit narrative... Last I knew one was in a democracy and could practice your faith without being targeted and called names”.

The actress also stated that her tweet was not to communalise sarees but, her fear of being trolled had lead her to add such a caption. On the work front, Raveena was last seen in ‘Matr’ which was directed by Ashtar Sayed. She will next be seen in ‘Shab’ which will hit theatres on June 30. The movie has been directed by Onir and also stars Ashish Bisht, Arpita Pal and Simon Frenay.
