Raid Story - Real Life Story Behind Ajay Devgn's Raid Movie

Raid Story - Real Life Story Behind Ajay Devgn's Raid Movie

Ajay Devgn is all set with his new film at the very beginning of this year. After two successful releases last year, Baadshaho and Golmaal Agin, he will return as an income tax officer in Raj Kumar Gupta's " Raid - A real life story". The film Raid shows him as an income tax officer who would conduct raids. The film is set in the 1980s Lucknow and if you have seen the trailer then you must have noticed that the film is inspired by real-life events.

But have you ever wondered what was the real-life incident that inspired the Raid film? It was a real life IT raids that were conducted by the IRS or Indian Revenue Service back in the 80s. According to a news site, the film has been loosely based on the raids carried the then Income Tax Commissioner of Lucknow, Sharda Prasad Pandey. He was said to have carried out the longest raid in the history that lasted for more than 18 hours. In fact, there were around 90 officers who were present to carry it out and almost 45 people to count the notes.

Here's The Real Life Story Behind Ajay Devgn's 'Raid'!

The raid was carried out in the house of businessman and Congress MLA Sardar Inder Singh in Kanpur. Apparently, almost 1.6 crores were recovered in cash. But the raid was carried out peacefully. Given the appearance of Indira Gandhi in the Black Jama Hai song, this might just be true!

But this does not negate the fact that raids also had risks. In fact, the film seems to have added the risk factor from other real life raids, like that of paper mill owner Harish Chhabra and jewellery dealer Chitranjan Swarup where investigating officers were assaulted by mobs.

Check out what Ajay and Ileana D'Cruz had to say about the film here:
