Revising Committee grants Bombay Velvet U/A certification, after Kashyap cuts and edits scenes

The Censor Board’s Revising Committee has granted Bombay Velvet a U/A certification only after Anurag Kashyap agreed to cut and edit a few scenes in the film, reported by Mumbai Mirror. Earlier, the CBFC refused to grant the movie a U/A certification after viewing the film. The decision of the CBFC was challenged by the filmmakers and they took their plea to the Revising Committee.

"He will have to snip out two cuss words - 'son of a bitch' and 'haramzada'. The members of the RC were far more open-minded than the EC, but even they felt that these two expletives were not suitable for an under-18 audience", a source informed Mumbai Mirror. The movie was seen by the Revising Committee late on Friday. The committee accepted the request for a U/A certification, but asked director Anurag Kashyap to cut three scenes and to edit a steamy kissing scene between Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.

"The liplock is part of a passionate lovemaking scene between Ranbir and Anushka. The RC thought it was a little too bold for a film catering to a universal audience", said the source. Earlier, Anurap Kashyap was against CBFC’s suggestion of cutting and editing scenes, but the director was left with no option but to do as the Revising Committee asked with the film’s release date closing in on May 15.
