Salman Khan Rio Olympics Controversy: Pooja Bhatt Slams Salim Khan

While the sports fraternity, including Milkha Singh opposed the decision to appoint Salman Khan as the goodwill ambassador for forthcoming Rio Olympics 2016, Salim Khan defended the move and took a dig at the legendary sprinter recently. Salim Khan wrote in a tweet that it was Bollywood which “resurrected” Singh “from fading away in oblivion”. Now Pooja Bhatt seems to have taken a serious offence of Salim Khan’s remark about Milkha Singh.

Bhatt wrote on Twitter, “Whether the film Industry resurrected Milkha Singh or whether Milkha Singh resurrected the film industry is an absurdly, distasteful debate”. She added, “Could the film be made if Milkha Singh wasn’t the man he was & did not achieve what he did in the first place? We all know,NOT. Hence, respect”.

Salim Khan had tweeted, “Milkhaji it is not Bollywood it is the Indian Film Industry and that too the largest in the world. The same industry which resurrected you from fading away in oblivion”. He further went on to call Salman Khan “an A level swimmer cyclist and weight lifter” in one of his tweets.

Milkha Singh was against the decision to appoint Salman Khan as the ambassador. He had stated, “India has produced so many sportsperson who have given their sweat and blood for the country like PT Usha, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Ajit Pal and so many others. One of these could have been made a good will ambassador. What was the need to import a person from Bollywood?”. He further requested the authorities to revise their decision.
