Salman Khan Was Rejected In His First Audition: Sooraj Barjatya About Maine Pyar Kiya

Sooraj Barjatya, who gave a major break to Salman Khan and made him rise to fame with his directorial venture Maine Pyar Kiya has recently revealed that he was not convinced with Salman’s first audition. He said that he was looking for alternatives and had considered Deepak Tijori as well. Interestingly, Salman also suggested a few names to the filmmaker. When nothing could be finalised, after four months, he scheduled another audition for the Dabangg star and thereafter selected him.

“When he first came to my office, I remember he was sitting at the reception and he looked very small and I was thinking, ‘So he is Salim saab’s son. And then he came and sat in front of me and showed me his photographs. Those photographs spoke a different story. Those eyes, jawline… it was world apart. And then we decided to do a screen test with him”, Barjatya told Indian Express.

Barjatya said that he was not impressed with the Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s first audition. “It is the second audition that we liked and we finalised him”, he said. The second audition reportedly happened after four months. After the audition, the duo met on the sets of ‘Biwi Ho Toh Aisi’ where supposedly after hugging Sooraj, Salman suggested another name to him. By that time, Sooraj had already made the decision and Salman’s iconic character, ‘Prem’, which he has essayed in many of his films and is once again portraying in upcoming Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, was born.
