Ajay Devgn, who featured in Son of Sardaar, has been roped in for Sons of Sardaar as well. Surprisingly, Ajay wasn’t the first choice for the flick. It is said that the film was supposed to be made with Sanjay Dutt as lead, but due to his jail term, he was replaced with the Singham star.

DNA quoted a source as saying, “The film was originally supposed to be produced by Dutt’s friend Bunty Walia and directed by Rohit Jugraj, who the actor felt, was the right person for a war epic. But then, Dutt went to jail and rather than wait for Dutt’s release, it was felt that Devgn was the right person for the part”. The source added, “It would’ve taken Sanjay Dutt months and months of physical training to get into shape for this role. It was therefore felt it was better to replace Dutt with Devgn”.

The film is based on 1897 battle of Saragarhi. The plot of the flick revolves around Saragarhi Sikhs, who died fighting 10,000 Afghans in the battle. The Golmaal star will play the role of a Sikh commander Havildar Ishar Singh. Ajay’s tweeted, “Need ur best wishes for Sons Of Sardaar, will match the scale of Hollywood war film 300 and based on epic Battle of Saragarhi. Diwali 2017”.
