After making its fans wait for 11 years, hit sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai is coming back in May. Producer JD Majethia (who also played Himanshu in TV show Khichdi) confirmed the news on Wednesday.

“Shooting will continue all through April. We we are targeting a May release,” Majethia told a leading daily.

Sarabhai vs Sarabhai ran on Star Plus between 2004 and 2006 and revolved around an upper class family in Mumbai’s struggles with their middle class daughter-in-law. The family often ran into one problematic situation after another but emerged stronger after each one.

The hit show starred Ratna Pathak Shah (Maya), Satish Shah (Indravadan), Rupali Ganguly (Monisha/Manisha), Sumeet Raghavan (Sahil) and Rajesh Kumar (Roshesh).

The new season will see a leap of seven years in the story’s timeline, according to India TV News. Also, it is confirmed now that the show will be aired as a web series in its new avatar.

Ratna Pathak Shah, who stood out in the original series as Maya Sarabhai, had earlier said to HT that the team “better have a good script” to make sure the web series is noteworthy and lives up to the original standards.

“The world has changed today. Things have changed in the 10 years that we’ve been away and we need to acknowledge that. We need to be extremely well-prepared to come back with something better. If not, then we shouldn’t come back at all,” she had said.

In June last year, Majethia posted a photo of the entire cast together and wrote the very promising words, “Sarabhai family at satish ji ‘s place.... Some good news for fans on its way”, with a winking and laughing emoji.
