She Is A Great Singer: Shaan On Parineeti Chopra

Be it actor Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor or Sonakshi Sinha, actors singing in their films has become a popular trend. Calling this a positive pattern, singer Shaan says that he is impressed with actor Parineeti Chopra’s singing abilities. The actor made her singing debut with the song Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahi from the film Meri Pyaari Bindu this year. “She is a great singer. I like her singing a lot and she is my favourite,” says the singer, popular for his numbers Jab Se Tere Naina from Saawariya (2007) Dus Bahane from Dus (2005) and Koi Kahein Kehta Raahein from Dil Chahta Hai (2001).

The 44-year-old says that songs in films are easy to sing and that’s why so many actors are doing it. “Songs have become all entertainment now and most of them are full of rap. They are quite easy. Now any actor can sing and sound fine. There is so much technology to support them now. In fact, even professional singers use it. I look at actors singing their own songs as a positive trend,” says Shaan, who is part of musical web series Mixed Tape.

The singer says he came on board with the show as he got the chance to work with other singers. “The show is all about the mashup of two songs. It was so nice to work with Shruti Pathak and Sukriti Kakar. Getting to sing with young singers keeps you updated and that is very important today. You can’t be stuck in your own space. That won’t help you grow,” says Shaan.
