Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express’ release rescheduled to August 9

Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express’ release rescheduled to August 9

After making Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara team push its release date backward by one week to avoid any box-office clash, now Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's Chennai Express itself has undergone a change in its release date. Now it will release on August 9 instead of August 8, the day of Eid.

Film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted in confirmation, “Breaking News: #ChennaiExpress will release on 9 August now. Not 8 August.” The makers have changed their plan keeping their Muslim fans’ requirements in mind. As the previous date was falling in the Ramadan period, many Muslim viewers would be unable to watch the film in the theatres.

After a meeting was held between Red Chillies, UTV and the exhibitors, the decision of the date-change has been taken. Gaurav Verma from the distribution team of one of the production houses said, "We always wanted to come on Eid for Chennai Express and now, as the festival will be celebrated on August 9, which also happens to be a bank holiday, it makes sense for us to release the film on the same day."
