Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees In Trouble: Son of Real Raees Sends Legal Notice

Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees In Trouble: Son of Real Raees Sends Legal Notice

Shah Rukh Khan’s forthcoming film 'Raees' is hitting roadblocks one after the other. First, the shooting of the Rahul Dholakia directorial was disrupted in Gujarat and stones were pelted on SRK’s car as part of protest. Now, as per the latest reports, a legal notice has been served by the son of real Raees to the makers of the movie.

The crime-drama film is apparently inspired from the life of alleged gangster Abdul Latif, who used to run illegal liquor business in Gujarat in 1990s when it was prohibited and had more than 40 murder cases filed against him. The son of the alleged gangster, Mustak Ahmed Abdul Latif Shaikh has sent legal notices to nine people from the team, including actors Shah Rukh Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, producer Ritesh Sidhwani and director Rahul Dholakia.

Mustak Ahmed Abdul Latif Shaikh has asked in the notice as to why a film is being made on his father’s life. The notice advises the team to “stop and desist notice from screening, promoting, releasing, publicizing, advertising and exploiting the Hindi film titled Raees”. The notice further says that Mustak’s father was “a famous businessman with deep roots in society”. The major concern of Mustak is that the film portrays his father in bad light and hence he wants an explanation for the same. Interestingly, it is said that the protagonist’s house whose set has been designed in Mumbai's Film City resembles Mustak Ahmed Abdul Latif Shaikh’s residence.
