Shah Rukh was first choice for Munnabhai MBBS, says Vidhu Vinod Chopra

Mumbai The iconic character of Munnabhai, played by Sanjay Dutt, was first offered to Shah Rukh Khan, says producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Chopra says the Badshah of Bollywood had also been considered for 3 Idiots, and the yet-to-be released Ferrari Ki Sawari. "Shah Rukh was offered 3 Idiots, Ferrari Ki Sawari, Munnabhai and other films. He is our first guy - we go to him first and if he says no, then we move on," Chopra said while talking to reporters here. The role of Munnabhai, which SRK refused due to back trouble, was eventually played by Sanjay Dutt who was initially offered to do a small role of Zaheer, a cancer patient, in the film. "Today, I feel Sanjay is perfect as Munna and same way Sharman fits the central role in 'Ferrari Ki Sawari'. It is all about writing and getting the right actor for the right role, which is difficult," Chopra said.
