It seems that the future of cinema is the digital medium and Shekhar Kapur seems to explore this all by himself. The director has flown to the US for making a short film on Gautam Buddha. The last full-length feature film that Shekhar made was ‘Elizabeth The Golden Age’ in 2007.

Speaking about his plans the director revealed, “It is actually a 12-minute virtual-reality film on Buddha’s enlightenment. I am making it because the dynamics and distending dimensions of the human emotion of compassion have always fascinated me”. He further said that he is working on a film on Bruce Lee. Talking about his film he said, “My film on Buddha addresses that reality”.

Further, the director said,  “When people ask me why I haven’t made a feature film for so many years, I have a simple explanation. I’ve never seen myself as a filmmaker; I have always seen myself as a storyteller. It could be on the big screen or it could be on television or on Internet and phone”. Shekhar is also working on a film on compassion and he is very excited about it.
