Sooraj Barjatya set to shift his focus from family dramas

Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya has so far directed films based on family and their mutual love and understanding only. Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and Vivah are some of the few. Now, the director is planning to experiment by making or producing flicks of varied genres under his production house, Rajshri Productions.

Barjatya said, “May be I feel restricted because of my mindset, my upbringing. But the next generation at Rajshri Productions should not be restricted. When she (Kavita) told me about this film, I said, 'Please make it. It is something I would have liked to make, (but) you make it.” The maker’s first step towards other genres of films will be for Samrat & Co., a detective film. It will be produced under his production banner only and will hit screens on April 25.
