Jab Harry Met Sejal Averts Date Clash With Toilet: Ek Prem Katha

Jab Harry Met Sejal Averts Date Clash With Toilet: Ek Prem Katha

Actors Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar have averted what possibly could have been the biggest box-office clash this year. After much anticipation, the title of the Shah Rukh and Anushka Sharma starrer was revealed yesterday night, and the Imtiaz Ali directorial will be called Jab Harry Met Sejal and not The Ring, Rehnuma or Raula, as rumoured for months now.

Amid reports that the film was to clash with Akshay and Bhumi Pednekar’s film, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, trade analyst announced the release date of the film on Twitter, hence confirming that the clash has been avoided. Jab Harry Met Sally will hit the theatres on August 4, 2017 whereas, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is scheduled to release a week later, on August 11, 2017.

Earlier, when the reports surfaced that both SRK and Akshay’s films will release during the Independence Day weekend, rumour mills were abuzz that filmmakers were planning to postpone SRK’s movie. These reports were rubbished by Adarsh in his tweet. Strangely, for SRK, the year started with yet another big clash when his film Raees locked horns with Hrithik Roshan-starrer Kaabil, however both the films fared well at the box-office.

Soon after the title of the film was revealed—Jab Harry Met Sally—social media users went crazy calling it an obvious take on Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal’s Harry met Sally (1989). Interestingly, it also reminded fans of Imtiaz’s hit film Jab We Met (2007), starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shahid Kapoor. It was rather interesting to see how Shah Rukh and Anushka shared the names of each other’s characters on Twitter.

Strangely, many claimed that the title of the film was suggested by none other than Imtiaz’s favourite actor, Ranbir Kapoor, who starred in Rockstar (2011) and Tamasha (2015). However, SRK, in his witty way, refuted reports and set the record straight through one tweet.

A romantic film, Jab Harry Met Sejal, has been widely shot in Prague, Amsterdam, Lisbon and Budapest and parts of Punjab too. According to reports, SRK plays the role of a tourist guide and Anushka plays a Gujarati girl and the film will see both the actors being paired on the big screen for the third time after Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) and Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012).
