Looks like the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan starrer, ‘Raees’, has landed itself into some legal trouble. Mustaq Ahmad, the son of the gangster portrayed by SRK in the film, had filed a suit against the release and promotion of the film and now, civil court judge RT Vatsani has issued notices to Red Chillies Entertainment Private Limited, Excel Entertainment and Rahul Dholakia Productions. Mustaq feels that the movie defames his father Abdul Latif.

The suit states that in the later part of the film, the gangster is portrayed in a defamatory manner which tarnishes his family’s reputation. Mustaq has demanded Rs. 101 crore for the damages. The petitioners have stated that the family members of Mustaq were consulted when the filmmakers were researching for the script.

They also addressed the fact that the producers advertised the project as a story based on Latif’s life. The team is required to reply to the notices by May 11. ‘Raees’, starring Shah Rukh, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mahira Khan, is scheduled to hit the screens on July 3.
