    St. Stephen's bans Life of Pi fame Suraj Sharma from appearing in exams


    He may have brought big fame to the country by playing the lead role in Oscar winner director Ang Lee’s film,Life of Pi, but 19-year-old Suraj Sharma has been banned by his college St. Stephen's from taking exams. Suraj, a first-year philosophy student, has been denied an admit card to take his semester exams. According to sources, the debutant actor has already missed the first test — Hindi — and will miss the entire exam if Delhi University doesn't issue him an admit card before Friday, when both his next exam and the India release ofLife of Piare scheduled. Sharma had missed classes while touring to promote the film.

    According to reports, Sharma was asked to submit written assignments for the classes he would be missing, but he had reportedly not submitted any assignments. Principal Valson Thampu said, "We made the effort to go the extra mile and evolve this scheme, which is internal to the college and not something DU approves of. But for me to grant attendance, I must see the written work in my file".
