Sumit Vyas To Play Ram Jethmalani In Web Series ‘Verdict – State Vs Nanavati’

Sumit Vyas, who recently made his Bollywood debut with ‘Veere di Wedding’, is all set to enter his home turf once again. The makers of a new courtroom drama web series ‘Verdict – State Vs Nanavati’ has roped in Sumit Vyas to play the role of lawyer Ram Jethmalani who was instrumental in the Nanavati case. Angad Bedi will also be seen playing a pivotal role as barrister Karl Khandalavala.

This will be the first time that Sumit Vyas will be seen in an intense role unlike his happy go lucky characters in ‘The Permanent Roommate ’ and ‘Trippling’. When it comes to preparing for this role, Sumit mostly has to depend on online material and books as there is hardly any video of the trial that transpired in 1959. Also, he has been reading a lot to understand the case better in order to improve his performance.

Sumit also said that his focus will be on interpreting the role played by Ram Jethmalani rather than trying to imitate him. He added, “Since it's a period show, we avoided making the actors look caricaturish. We used a few photos of Ram Jethmalani to draw inspiration for the costumes.” It would be interesting to see what the audiences’ Verdict will be on Sumit Vyas.
