It's Going To Be Exciting: Sunidhi Chauhan On Expecting Her First Child

Singer Sunidhi Chauhan and husband, music composer Hitesh Sonik, have been married for five years and the couple is expecting their first child. Five months into pregnancy, Sunidhi feels that becoming a mother is going to be an interesting phase of her life, as she will now get to balance her personal life and work.

“There is no preparation right now because I have no clue what to do. I am totally clueless but thankfully we have our families to take care of that part. It’s [motherhood] going to be exciting more than challenging. Things would be different but since I am great with multi-tasking, I think I’m going to be great with this, too. However, singing will not stop,” says Sunidhi, who is due to deliver in December.

Going through this beautiful phase in her life, the 34-year-old is also experiencing a sense of curiosity and she explains how she ends up talking about pregnancy all the time.

“All I do, when I meet people, is talk about pregnancy. I keep talking about ‘how it is’ , ‘what should I do’ and ‘how it is going to be’. So, that definitely is a change I have noticed in me. There used to be other conversations with people, but this is all that’s there to talk about now,” laughs Sunidhi, adding, “This is the topic of the season is this for me.”

The singer, who has sung tracks such as Kamli, Desi Girl, Navrai Majhi and Saaki, is also taking tips from her friends, who have already experienced motherhood and are now raising kids.

“Thankfully I have some friends who are parents and they know how this all goes. When something like this happens, you happen to come across more such people, who are experiencing parenthood and that is what is happening to me right now. I am getting to meet people, who are into this [pregnancy] and I am asking them all sorts of questions,” says the singer, who has decided to stop doing LIVE shows post October, when she steps in her third trimester.
