Is 'The Kapil Sharma Show' Going Off Air? Here's The Truth!

There were reports that Kapil Sharma’s comedy show on Sony won’t get any extension as it’s losing out on TRPs, but the channel has now clarified that the show will continue for another year. The channel announced the news on Monday.

Naturally, it made Kapil Sharma, the host of the show, very happy. He said in a statement, “I am deeply touched with the warmth and love the audience has showered on us over the years. It’s their belief and undying devotion that encourages us to continue to reinvent ourselves and bring smiles to every household week on week.”

he further said, “I am grateful to Sony Entertainment Channel for believing in me and our show and supporting us in creating and bringing unlimited entertainment to every household every weekend.”

But this renewal of contract won’t finish his problems as he is struggling with the brand hit he suffered after the departure of Sunil Grover from the show after a mid-air brawl on an India bound flight from Australia.

Following the spat, other key members of his crew like Ali Asgar and Chandan Prabhakar, had also left the show.

A few episodes of the show were also cancelled at the shooting stage due to non-availability of guests and a proper crew to take care of the proceedings. But eventually things started falling back in place and Sharma now looks all set to give it another wholehearted shot.

    So where is the problem?

Well, it’s with the falling TRPs. Danish Khan, Executive Vice President and Head at Sony Entertainment Television, tried to brush off the worries and said, “Kapil is an extraordinary talent and we are delighted to have further cemented our relationship with extension of this contract. We are confident that the show and it’s talented cast will continue to enthrall the audiences across the globe.”

But who is going to replace Sunil Grover on the show who was probably more popular than the host Sharma? Also, without Ali Asgar’s Daadi, the show will find it difficult to acquire a new dimension.

Last some months have been really tough for Kapil Sharma as a brand, so he will have to build everything from the scratch, and that may require more time than allotted.
