Not Akshay Kumar, But This Actor Was Earlier Considered For Padman?

Superstar Akshay Kumar announced on the New Year that he will turn into a Padman on screen for R Balki's Padman. With this announcement, the actor is all set to break stereotypes in a country where menstruation is still a taboo. While from the very beginning, we have only heard the name of Mr Kumar with the project, sources claimed that a South Indian actor was earlier in consideration for the role.

If reports are to be believed, Balki earlier wanted to take Dhanush in this project and make it in Tamil. As per a source, "The director R. Balki is Tamil himself. He wanted to cast Dhanush with whom he has worked in Shamitabh. But Mr & Mrs Akshay Kumar wanted the resident superstar to play the sanitary napkin man. So, now the character’s cultural profile has been changed. He will no longer be Tamil but will address himself to a pan-India audience".

Helmed by R Balki, the movie will mark Mrs Twinkle Khanna first steps into productions. The story is about a man, Arunachalam Muruganantham, who started making sanitary napkins at low cost for the women in villages. The story is slated for a release at the end of the year.
