Though It Was Challenging, VidyaBalan Enjoyed Shooting For Begum Jaan

Srijit’s recent directorial titled ‘Begum Jaan’ stars Vidya Balan who is playing a bada** role in the film. For her role, the actress had to do a lot of slapping, kicking and cursing which was challenging, but an enjoyable experience for her. Vidya recently spoke with Bollywoodlife and shared her experience playing a grey character.

Vidya plays a brothel in charge who is quite aggressive and crass. Since she had to do a lot of slapping, she was always worried about ruining someone’s face. “Slapping, kicking. Initially, Srijit (director) would say if you don’t give it your all, we’ll have to keep shooting”, the actress said, adding, “I thought I will see how much force I can apply, I was worried about ruining someone’s face (laughs). I play the madam of a brothel who is very very aggressive and powerful. I don’t think I have played such a powerful character so far”.

The Kahaani actress said that her character is extremely powerful, both physically and emotionally. On the other hand, handling the cursing was quite easy for her. Recalling the shoot for ‘Ishqiya’, the actress revealed that she was a little uncomfortable while cursing at that time. Now, the actress had no problem and in fact, enjoyed it.

‘Begum Jaan’ hit theatres on April 14 and grossed Rs. 3.50 crore on the opening day.
