Tigmanshu Dhulia sees Meena Kumari through eyes of Kangana!

A day after the 43^rd death anniversary of tragedy queen Meena Kumari, we have a news to charm over all her fans. Filmmaker Tigmasnshu Dhulia is going ahead with his plans of making a biopic on the deceased actress, who was immensely famed for her off screen life. The life that had romance, tragedy, passion, drama all at once, signified what Meena Kumari the star was made of.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, director Tigmasnshu Dhulia revealed who he felt was the apt choice for portrayal of Meena on screen. Dhulia believes that Kangana Ranaut is perhaps the best suited female, who can play the ‘Pakeezah’ actress on screen. "There is a profound sadness in Kangana's eyes, the same quality that we saw in Meena Kumari's eyes. And that voice! When I heard Kangana Ranaut in her debut film Gangster I was reminded of Meena Kumari. The same haunted and haunting quality, a voice that suggests pain grief, wisdom and seduction! I knew then and there that if I ever make a film on Meena Kumari it would have to be Kangana who plays the legendary actress”, Tigmanshu said.

Revealing his plans to go ahead with the film, the ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ director told that while he has the rights of Vinod Mehta’s biography of the actress, he still doesn’t have the required backing to come on floors. "I've bought the rights of the book long ago. It is a fascinating tale of a life lived on the edge. As I read the account, I was more and more convinced that Kangana Ranaut was the right person for the part. I don't know which aspects of her life I'll go into. At the moment I don't have a script or a studio to back the project. But I am making the film for sure, though not right away”, he added.

The National Award winning ‘Queen’ actress has been on most maker’s wish list to work with. While Tigmanshu hunts for producers to put his ambitious Meena Kumari biopic in prospect, let’s make it clear we support the choice he’s made through Kangana.
