Tisca Chopra: I Would Like To Play Amrita Pritam On Screen

Actress Tisca Chopra, best known for Darsheel Safary’s mother in ‘Taare Zameen Par’, recently opened up about her desire to play the character of writer-poet Amrita Pritam on screen. The Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji actress expressed her wish at the screening of the short film 'Amrita and I', which features actress Shruti Ulfat playing Amrita. Tisca appreciated the movie, calling it an amazing blend of poetry and painting.

“Amrita Pritam is part of our cultural consciousness and if I’ll get an opportunity, I would like to play her on screen”, Tisca stated, adding, “Amrita Pritam’s character is really fascinating. We all have heard about her relationship with Sahir Ludhianvi (poet), but not many people know about her relationship with Imroz, who was her companion in her life. So, I really liked this thing that this film is from Imroz’s point of view”.

“The director has done a great job by using minimal and surreal kind of sets in the film”, Tisca added. The actress was last seen in ‘Ghayal Once Again’ and now she is working on a short film. She revealed that the film will be a comedy one and will feature a well-known actor as well. The movie is in the pre-production stage right now.
