    ‘Tujhe Yaad Na Meri Aayi’ Singer Manpreet Akhtar Passes Away

    Punjabi folk singer Manpreet Akhtar has passed away on January 17 at a suburban hospital in Patiala. The singer, who was most popular for her Bollywood song ‘Tujhe yaad na meri aayi’ from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, died due to brain hemorrhage. Manpreet Akhtar was 55.

    Manpreet was the sister of renowned Punjabi singer Dilshad Akhtar. She has several chartbuster songs to her credit. Some of her popular Punjabi folk songs have been ‘Beriye Ni’, ‘Nikdi sui’ and ‘Bas Ek Gera Gidhe Vich’.

    Harbhajan Mann, Babu Singh Mann and Pammi Bai visited her family. Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal also expressed grief on the same. He has been quoted as saying, “She carried forward the legacy of her brother, late Dilshad Akhtar, in a very dignified manner”. Badal prayed to the almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to the family to overcome the loss.
