Valmiki Samaj not happy with title of Jimmy Shergills new film

Mumbai, March 6 -- Even before going on floors, Jimmy Shergill-starrer "Valmiki Ki Bandook" is making news as Haryana-based Valmiki Samaj has objected the title of the film which links their gurus name to gun.According to an IANS report, director Karan Butani has no problem in altering the title if the need arises as the film is a satire on Uttar Pradesh's gun culture and has nothing to do with lord Valmiki. Butani has also clarified that they didn't intend to hurt any religious sentiments with the title."We happened to read an article about this new film in the papers, and we didn't like the name of the film," Raj Kumar, general secretary of Valmiki Samaj, said."Valmiki is our guru, we worship him. He wrote the great Ramayana... so how can one associate something like a 'bandook' (gun) with his name. We wish to speak to the filmmakers and request them to alter the title," he added."Paan Singh Tomar" fame Tigmanshu Dhulia is said to be the creative director of the project directed by his assistant Butani.
