Is Veere Di Wedding Heading For Controversy?

The much-awaited movie Veere Di Wedding whose trailer has gathered many praises and crossed over 12 million views in just a few days, is now in a controversy. The movie is criticised for having profanities in the trailer. The actresses are shown using abusive words and the movie has come under the scanner.

According to a Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) spokesperson the language heard in the trailer is unacceptable. “I don’t know which section of India’s 20-something female population talks like this. And for what purpose? I wouldn’t like to say much. But to hear Anil Kapoor ’s daughter and Kareena Kapoor Khan talk like this is not very encouraging. They have a huge fan following. Is this the example they want to set"?

However, Swara Bhasker , who is playing one of the four protagonists, stood up to defend the language used in the movie. She said, “The film is an honest unabashed real look at the friendship of four urban girls from an upper-middle-class stratum of society. This is how young people; both, men and women talk to each other. We are just being real and ourselves, that’s it. There is no other agenda or message to it”. Various news and entertainment channels have already cleaned out the profanities while showing the trailer.
