Velipadinte Pusthakam: Mohanlal looks perfect as a man from a rural background

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal shared a new poster of Velipadinte Pusthakam (The Book of Revelation) on Monday. Directed by Lal Jose, the film features the veteran actor as the college professor and who belongs to a rural setup.

The poster is a picture of family bliss -- Mohanlal is seen sitting on the beach with his wife and daughter, enjoying a scenic view. At a distance, a tractor is parked, giving a hint that perhaps Mohanlal will also appear as a farmer in the film.

Mohanlal plays a vice-principal named Michael Idikkula, known for his unconventional teaching methods, so much so that his students give him a moniker ‘Dracula’, reports Indian Express. Some time back, a clip from the film’s shoot showing Mohanlal performing an emotional scene was leaked online and soon went viral.

Mohanlal was last seen in films like 1971: Beyond Borders and Pulimurugan and has been in news for his ambitious Rs 1000-crore film, which is based on the Mahabharata. It is based on the novel Randamoozham, written by celebrated Malayalam writer MT Vasudevan Nair and tells the famous story from Bhima’s perspective.

Lal Jose, who has been around for many years, has never had the opportunity to work with Mohanlal in the past. This will be his first outing with the veteran actor. They were to work together on Shikkar, but the film was finally directed by M Padmakumar.

Since July this year Mohanlal has been sharing a number of posters and photos from the shoot. The film is expected to release during Onam. It also stars Anna Reshma Rajan, Anoop Menon, Salim Kumar, Priyanka Nair, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Alencier Ley Lopez, Arun Kurien and Sarath Kumar.

Written by Benny P Nayarambalam and produced by Antony Perumbavoor, the film’s music is by Shaan Rahman.
